Devon Air Ambulance
For many organisations, a website is a valuable marketing tool. But for Devon Air Ambulance (DAA), it’s much more; it’s a key resource for attracting fresh support, fostering donor relationships, and ensuring the funding needed to keep their life-saving service in the air.
As a charity providing emergency critical care across Devon and its neighbouring counties, DAA relies on public support to operate. That’s why, with a refreshed brand and evolving goals, they approached AB to create a modern, engaging, and futureproof website to match their mission.

A site reaching its limits
DAA was looking for a website that could keep pace with the organisation’s growth, that would be flexible and straightforward to update, that would reflect their refreshed branding, and would cater for their varied and growing audiences. This included donors, volunteers, patients and jobseekers. They were also looking to integrate the site with tools, such as Donorfy, to make donation management and user journeys as straightforward as possible.
With their previous hosting contract coming to an end, time was critical, and DAA needed a robust, futureproof solution, fast.
Understanding the audiences
A successful website doesn’t just look good; it should also work seamlessly for every user. Before getting started on the website design, we conducted a comprehensive discovery phase, engaging with DAA’s team to understand their goals and audience behaviours. With several types of users visiting the website, it needed to accommodate different journeys and experiences.
Our process included:
- Audience analysis – Identifying the needs of donors, volunteers, beneficiaries, and other key audiences to make sure the site worked for everyone.
- Functionality specification – Providing a detailed roadmap of features, ensuring clarity for all stakeholders.
- Sustainability focus – Exploring ways to create a cleaner, greener website aligned with DAA’s environmental goals.
These insights formed the foundation of a user-centred design that supported DAA’s mission and boosted engagement.

Building a dynamic platform
The new DAA website was designed to be as impactful as their critical care services. It includes:
- CRM integration – Seamless integration with Donorfy ensures donations flow directly into DAA’s CRM.
- Optimised user journeys – Improved pathways for donations, volunteer sign-ups, event registrations and corporate partnerships.
- Interactive features – Animated stats and dynamic storytelling bring DAA’s life-saving work to the forefront of the website
- Sustainable hosting – Green hosting reduces the site’s environmental impact while maintaining high performance.
- Content Management System (CMS) – An intuitive CMS allows multiple departments to manage content easily.
“AB built us a fantastic new website and applied our refreshed branding to it beautifully. Client support was fantastic and communication was timely, clear and supportive. We had a very positive experience working with the team, and feel confident that their support will make an important difference to our digital presence in support of Devon’s communities.”
